Our Ministry
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
A Vision for Healing
Our Hope in Healing Podcast is where we feel God called us to spread awareness of how powerful He is when you have people around you praying and believing. We want to show how we can overcome impossible odds by faith alone in Jesus.
We are called by God to help others heal through our testimony. Because Isabelle and Zach have brain injuries on the opposite sides of their head, with each other, they make a perfect team. As they say, teamwork makes the dream work.
"This is more than a dream, but rather a vision to live on a mission edge for Jesus."
Isabelle's Passion
Isabelle has a deep passion to serve kids, especially younger toddlers. She was in a coma for 2 ½ months, and when she woke up, she was told by Jesus that she has a greater purpose on earth than in heaven. She lives out that profound calling every single day by pouring love and faith into the next generation.
The Road to Recovery
Isabelle was resilient in the process of learning how to walk again. She pushed the walker away. She said "no this walker needs to stay here". Holding the nurses hand and walking freely for the first time in months.
Zach's Heart
Zach has a heart entirely dedicated to helping the youth. He is actively working with connections he made back in high school—before his injury—to mentor and impact young athletes transitioning into adulthood. His goal is to use the platform of sports to lead others to come closer to God.
The Fight to Rebuild
This was quite the contrary for Zach. Although his time walking with the walker was days and not months he struggled the first day and was just as eager to walk out of the hospital. After 17 extremely long days in the ICU & recovery floor Zach walked out of the hospital.
A Community United
Zach’s school rallied for him, and other surrounding schools gathered wearing green, holding mass and prayer for him. There were prayer groups praying for him all around the world.
Zach’s sister, Becca Stevens, spoke at a mass at Hill-Murray while Zach was in a coma, sharing updates on how he was doing in the hospital and so much more. She helped hold the family together during the hardest moments.
Milestones & Miracles
A Divine Encounter: The Morning of the Proposal
The morning of the proposal, Zach was trying to avoid any wrong words spoken or show himself any nervousness. Zach asked Isabelle if she had any suggestions on what to do, and she suggested going to the local coffee shop for some coffee.
They ended up running into the local fire department, and one of the firefighters just happened to be the one who helped Isabelle get out of her car wreck with the jaws of life. It was an incredibly powerful full-circle moment on a day that would change their lives forever.
The Big Question at Regions Hospital
Zach coordinated the proposal using resources at Regions Hospital. When Jimmy agreed to help Zach get it all set up, he pitched the idea to Kare 11 NBC affiliate, and Boyd Huppert of Land of 10,000 Stories agreed. Making this all happen was great. Zach wanted all the hospital staff that cared for them to be there, as well as family.
It was a lot of work for Zach to keep the secret for the proposal because, as Isabelle always tells everyone, “Zach can’t keep secrets.” So to pull off this proposal was quite spectacular!
Zach had given the engagement ring to Jimmy at the hospital to hold onto until they went into the atrium to do episode #5, where he asked the big question. When Isabelle was in another room away from Zach, Jimmy quietly slipped the ring from his backpack into Zach’s pocket.
During this season of life, Zach was selling fiber internet for a local internet provider, doing door-to-door sales. One of the freelance videographers who came to record a separate interview at Regions for a CBS segment happened to be one of Zach’s customers from months prior! It was a truly unique and full-circle moment.
Planted in Community
We both actively attend and serve at Zoe Church in Burnsville, Minnesota. Zach enjoys serving on the front lines as a door greeter on Sundays, welcoming people into the house of God, while Isabelle continues her passion by serving faithfully in the kids room.
